A little back story I had a problem with hosting and have no had to rebuild from scratch.
So i am running a clean install.
GL1.5.0
G2Bridge [v2.0]
Gallery version = 2.2.6 core 1.2.0.8
PHP version = 5.2.6 cgi
Webserver = Apache/2.2.9 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.9 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_python/3.3.1 Python/2.4.3 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635
Database = mysqli 5.0.51a-community-log, lock.system=flock
Toolkits = ArchiveUpload, Exif, Getid3, LinkItemToolkit, Gd, ImageMagick, Ffmpeg, Thumbnail
Acceleration = none, none
Operating system = Linux xxxx.com 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jun 25 13:45:47 EDT 2008 x86_64

Here is my issue, as I make changes to the albums I have noticed a large number of core.### files of about 14MB.
This became a problem when the G2Bridge folder had bloated to over 2GB.
Nothing bad seems to happen if I delete the files but I am not sure whats is causing them.

I did do a search of the forums both here and at FlashYourWeb I didn't see any one else having this issue.

Thanks again for all the hard work.

Sounds like coredumps, i.e. an application crashed and Linux dumped its memory to a file for later analysis.

My guess would be that one of the helper programs involved (e.g. for scaling images) is crashing. Once you've figured out which program is crashing, you should also disable coredumps, if you can (you didn't say if it's your own server or if you are using a hosting service).

HTH

bye, Dirk

Thanks I wasn't quite sure where to start.
I am on a shared host.

I will have to look at my error logs a bit closer.
Any reason why it would dump in the home/public_html/G2Bridge/

Thanks again I'll keep you posted.

This is definately something new.
G2Bridge should not even be writable.
Question: Are you using rewrite?

No sir, rewrite is off in both GL and Gallery.
Permissions for the home/public_html/G2Bridge/ is 755

I am still trying to get something to show up in an error.log some where.
I will start disabling Image packs one at a time and see if i can find one of them at fault.
How ever I still thought it was interesting that the dumps would end up in that directory.

So what type of files are these?
Do you have debug enabled in /gallery2/config.php?

All the debugging, maintenance, ect. is set to false.

I found some info over in the gallery forums.
I started hear because they are showing up in the G2brige folder rather than the Gallery2 folder.

From what i understand now they are core dump files, like Dirk said.

I ran sort on time to run tests at the moment. I hope to get to it this weekend.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there are a couple settings out of whack on the server, I got lucky and got put on the fancy new one.
But I haven't had a chance to poke at that spot with a stick yet.

Ok so I still have not been able to isolate where the error is coming from but on the good side everything works as it should on the front side so far.

While I still intend to dig into the source of the problem, for the time being I have restricted the permissions of the problem directory to 555 and over the last hour i have not seen any new dump files piling up.

We shall see how that holds up over the weekend till I get back.

Thanks again for the direction as i find anything interesting ill put it here.
