I have come up with a solution that allows for more flexibility with your signatures in regards to forums. Just remember that signatures are also used in Comments so this will affect those as well.

As you may know signatures support Autotags and since Forum 2.7 forum signatures also display the Autotags. My users have always had an issue however in that all line feeds are striped out of their signatures in the forums. In order to overcome this I installed the Autotags plugin and created a few custom Autotags. This worked well except that the forum layout limits the height of the signature area to 45px. This was easy enough to change however. (This will have to be redone if you install a new version of the Forum code in the future unless it is changed in the release).

In your layout/yourgeekloglayout/forum/layout directory you will need to edit topic.thtml.

Find this line...
Text Formatted Code
<div style="height:45px padding-top:10px;display:{show_sig};">

Change it to...
Text Formatted Code
<div style="height:100%; padding-top:10px;display:{show_sig};">

For my site(s) I have created 3 simple Autotags using the Autotag plugin. They are...

1. [yourlink:URL TEXT] - Link with a line feed (URL should not include "http://"Wink
Text Formatted Code
<a href=http://#1>#2</a><br>

2. [yourlinknf:URL TEXT] - Same as yourlink but no line feed
Text Formatted Code
<a href=http://#1>#2</a>

3. [yourtext:TEXT] - This only adds a line feed. If you don't need a line feed you don't need this Autotag.
Text Formatted Code
#0 <br>

Using these and some Media Gallery tags I now have a signature on one of my sites that you can see here along with some usage documentation.

If we could either make the change to the forum code permanent or make it a CSS definition it would make this easier to do in the future but it is just one line of code so it isn't really that bad.

You should post a request about moving the sig styling into a CSS file over on Blaine's forum support forum on his website.

I posted nearly the same post as I did here on his site at about the same time I posted here. I will wait a little while to see if he responds. If not I will ask again.

Funny thing is I did a hack to add banners/imgs to an older forum in the sig area. I need to post that.
You was able to upload the pic in the userprefs.
It was over a year ago and not sure all the changes I did. :doh:

It's still on that sight I sold. freakworld.com
you can see it work there. the delete account is on there. So you can sign up play with it then delete your account.

(note the messed up theme there is not my fault. He did something to it after he payed fore the site and I even offered to fix it for him but he never got back with me. lol)
