Not really a problem

Some time back a few buddies of ours had a website that used geeklog. Since that time, the original webmaster passed away, and the remaining operators of the site are teaming up with my site. With the magic of web archives, and photoshop, I have recreated a replica (non functional) of their old website, but I'm having trouble finding the actual theme they used for it.

You can view the non working replica here:
http://www.darcsystems.com/MassU

Is this an actual theme? or did the original webmaster make it himself? I know he was going to Fitchburg State College for web design at the time, so it's very possible he did this himself. I havent had any luck finding the template, so I figured I'd ask you guys.

Also, if it IS a theme, I'm sure it's a bit outdated since this was back in 2k4, which means that it won't have the admin panel options of 1.4.1, is there an easy way to bring it up to date?

Thanks,
Jay

It is a modification of an existing theme. Can't remember which one, but you can perhaps find it by playing around with the theme changer here:
http://demo.geeklog.net/index.php

Updating it to 1.4.1 is possible, but can be time consuming (a couple of hours) depending on your ambitions. There are notifications on how to update themes in the READMEs of the geeklog release.

That's the XSilver theme, which was actually Geeklog's default theme for a couple of years.

Awesome, thanks.

Now, in the readme, it says to copy the admin folder from Professional over to the Xsilver theme. I did that, but I still lack all the options in the admin panel for:

* Preview
* Username & Password
* About You
* Layout & Language
* Content
* Privacy

Which files in the theme effect this specifically? Is there any files I should overwrite with the professional updated files? I overwrote all over the admin directory, the navbar directory, I think the lists directory, and a couple other files, and I didn't see any change in the function at all. I tried it with another theme (console I think) and ended up overwriting so many files that it functioned the same, but distorted the theme a bit.

I've got some experience with Nuke, and a whole bunch of experience with phpBB (even though the port for geeklog and phpBB is giving me a ton of trouble right now) but this is my first geeklog attempt, so bear with me. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions.

Thanks,
Jay

Hmm, no luck there either. Then again it could all be infront of me and I'm just not seeing it.

The upgrading instructions may be a little terse, but it's really all in there (unless you're looking under "Admin templates", which would be the wrong section for the above changes).

bye, Dirk
