I would like to install media gallery and it states the requirement would be to have my server carry a graphics package (i.e imagemagick) which they do, but whats the procedure on tying the two together (media galley + imagemagick)? Thanks in advance for your responses.

Once you have Media Gallery installed, you will need to set a few configuration options, one of those is which graphics package to use and where it is located. For full details on how to configure, see the Documentation Wiki on Configuration

Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Thank you Mark for the reply and Happy Thanksgiving! I ended up installing it and then tried to upload a pic. At first I recieved many error messages regarding not being able to write (file access). I changed the settings on the ones stated (changed to 777, would not correct at 755 is this dangerous to have it at 777?). After that, I tested the photo and it actually worked and set the path.

Atlantean,

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Using 777 isn't the best solution for permission problems, but it does generally solve them.

Permissions are a tricky thing, first we need to know what user and group the web server is setup to run as. Then, we have to look at who (user and group again) owns the directories. Once we know all this, we can either change the permissions or the owner of the directories or both to get the best setup. It can be difficult to understand. Generally, 777 won't cause to much trouble, if it works, stick with that for now.

Thanks!
Mark
