indentation in theme files?

Hi,

is indetation in theme files mandatory? Indetation with 4 spaces?
( copied text from Geeklog php file )
/* Reminder: always indent with 4 spaces (no tabs). */

We don't have any strict rules for indentation in the themes.

Personally, I think we even have too much whitespace in them.
