Greetings, Cool

I run a handful of Geeklog websites. One of them got into trouble via trackbacks and in any event all the trackbacks my sites get are spam. For what I am doing I feel little or no need for trackbacks & pingbacks.

So on those sites I have renamed the trackback.php and pingback.php to "*.php.disabled". In addition I went through the config.php and disabled those features there. However, prior to this my sites are laden with spam trackbacks (I have yet to figure out how a user can view them).

What I want to do is to clear out the MySQL tables. What is the trackback table structure? I see two tables obviously trackback related gl_trackback and gl_trackbackcodes. What is the relation between the two tables and if I delete a gl_trackback record what other tables may contain related records that may require record purges?

Thanks

BTW the shortness & pudginess in my pic is exagerated by scaling!

The trackbackcodes table is required for the trackback options dropdown in the story editor, so you should leave it alone.

You can empty the trackbacks table if you want, but you'll have to adjust the trackback counter in the stories afterwards (simply set 'trackbacks' to 0 for all stories). Or you could use the Mass Delete Trackback module for Spam-X.

bye, Dirk
