I like the forums here at geeklog.net, what are they using here?
What others are considered good and easy to maintain?
Thanks!

The forum here is a Geeklog Forum plugin.

Some people use phpBB bridged.

I like the Geeklog forum plugin. Fits all my needs on a relatively busy site, and 3 1/2 years of using it has not failed me yet. Simple. Seemless. Easy for even the newest of users to figure out.

As far as I know there are only those two mentioned. The GL-Plugin which is really good especially in the new 2.5 version and the phpbb bridge.

You find a small comparison here: http://demo.turias.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=217

I went for the GL 2.5 Plugin as I don`t need all the features of phpbb and it integrated a bit more nicely. I think there is a lot to consider BEFORE installing this bridge and you should not do without a complete test run. Once you imported all the users and postings it is partly too late to do adjustments e.g. of time format, language and some preferences.

phpBB has a simple, user-friendly interface, a helpful FAQ and a generous administrator control panel. And remember, it's free!
You can choose the databases server (MySQL, MS-SQL, PostgreSQL or Access/ODBC), the functionalities (at first I was a little discouraged by the mods installation process but I found great support on the online community and the documentation they provide answered all my questions) the skins... Everything is customizable so you can create the forum you always dreamed of.

If you haven't got much time, and want to see what the new phpbb3 can offer, just try it out on this host : create forum

Hope this can help!

I would recommend phpBB as well. if your host is a Cpanel host, they may very likely have an easy to use installer to automatically install phpBB.
i have no prb in using phpbb

Unfortunately you don`t give any reason and I suppose you only recommend it because you wanted to promote your link.

It is pretty silly to use phpbb3 with Geeklog nowadays as there is nobody to maintain the bridge.

The Geeklog forum plugin is the best choice for Geeklog at present.
