Static pages do not have comment engine support. Why not use a story ?

The site I am working on is wanting to use some static documents as starting points for articles / discussions , as documentation for other articles. The docs would be regularly used, with-out much if any changes. So an idea was proposed that it might be nice to be able to comment directly on some of that material, to help with discussions etc. I was just checking to see if it is possible. We will not go with comments even if possible becuase on some of documents, comments would not be wanted. What I will probably do for the docs that would need comments, I will add a link / code at the bottom of the specific doc and point it to a forum topic. Thanks Aaron

Yep that can work. Also wanted to note that comments can be disabled for stories as well - per story.

how about just making a static page naming it to match the story name so it can appear above the story and the comments? No unnecessary links that way.

I\'m in the process of modifying 1.3.8\'s staticpage plugin to add commenting ability. I\'ll release it after 1.3.8 becomes final.

Hi all!
I'm a moderator of a website geekcode based.Ther site-admin enabled the comments in the static pages, so in every static page, you can post a comment. But there is a problem: when I have to edit a static page (some data is wrong, for example) all the comments disappear!!. This is a bug?. I've been searching in the docs and also in this forum but no idea about the solution. Can someone help me?
Thanks!

The Static Pages plugin does not support comments, so someone must have modified it. I'd suggest you contact that person for support then.

bye, Dirk

Thanks Dirk, I have just emailed the site admin. If I remember correctly, I think that he wrote some code in order to enable the comments.
Best regards
Dani.
