On the /admin/user.php page, I would like to see some features to help sort out all of the users. Thanks to Blaine's forum plugin Mr. Green I now have 143 members that span 3 pages.

I would like to see a column row with this info:

User ID, Username, Full name, how many articles submitted, how many posts submitted (if forum plugin is installed), and registered date.

Then to accompany the Search, would also be a Sort. The column heading for username, email address, post count, etc. could be clickable links, that sorted it alphanumerically ascending then descending - or you could have a drop down box for that.

Also would be helpful if the Search routine would wildcard the searches. Right now if I search for my login, which is "Webmaster", I get back that result. But if I search for "Web", I get nothing. So what I want is a search for "Web" to bring up all column data that includes that string.

I hope this request makes it into a release. Thanks. praying it will work

Rick,

I actually have completed several UI enhanchements to the user and group admin screens. Heading are now sortable and its a lot easier to view with alternating color rows. It's in CVS if you want to check it out.

You can do wildcard searches now - use a * at the end as in b* or web*

When I am loged in as admin I can edit the user`s security groups and some smaller things like username, name, password, email, homepage. I`d like to be able to adjust all the things which the user himself can adjust under preferences and profile. This would be a better help for him if he doesn`t understand how to upload his photo etc.

Basically the files necessary should be those unter /theme/preferences/ I just don`t have any idea how to do that.

Yep that's a good idea - the Admin should be able to get into user's accounts to change something. For instance, I may have a member that has a link in their sig that I feel should not be there, but I don't want to have disable their account or get into the database to change it.

Just an idea - but would it be possible to have a quick way of deleting large groups of users? Maybe there is a way and I just haven't found it.

I did a batch user load, but the email function wasn't working and I need to reload them so that the passwords will be emailed out. that can be pretty time consuming, as far as I can tell.

Any suggestions?

I'd also like to have the option to only allow users that I approve to enter the site. Now, anyone can create an ID and get in. You might as well not have an ID and PW. As quick as I can kick them out, they can request a new ID and get back in.

You can set that in config.php so new users first go to the submission queue

I`d like to bring this up again especially the idea that root users should be able to enter a user`s account.

Isn`t it so that a linux root admin can enter a user's account with his password? I thought it was more or less the same technique here.

So when logging in GL should check if it is the user's or root admin's password. Is this difficult to install, is there no hack for this?

This was Feature Requests item #511 and tokyoahead was so kind to write a static page: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=121539&package_id=208088

Unfortunately I got some problems with it in GL 1.4.0sr5 and also 1.4.1b1 it only returns a lot of letters and signs but does not seem to execute the code. PHP is enabled, there is no warnig, I am Admin id=2. No idea what`s wrong. Anybody else?

I suspect the problem is that upon saving all the backslashes are being stripped.
So before you save the page double the number of backslashes.
Worked for me Smile

Hope that helps,

The code my static page spits out starts with: !) // open the page

Back slashes are not being stripped when I edit or reedit the text. GL 1.4.1b1 does not offer text input just HTML or advanced editor.

Aaaaah! This code "!) // open the page " comes after tokyoahead´s instruction to take out
"( w/o the <? ?>!)" That was it!!! I had to delete this piece of instruction!! -> "( w/o the !)"

Now it works, great!!! That will be a big help - thanks!!!
