confused
I've got three portal blocks running rss feeds. They worked fine when I set them up (got the initial read) but now won't update. I know that they are supposed to update every 60 minutes but that's not happening. All three blocks went out and got the initial content when I set them but, but they have not updated since.

Where's the command line so I can check to see if it's set correctly. I've been through config.php, syndication.php, and block.php and can't find it...

Try saving the block again. That should force Geeklog to read the feed again.

bye, Dirk

That looked like it worked, for a second. The "Last RSS Update" reset to all zeros when I hit "save." But then when I go back to home, the old info is still there, and when I return to the block management section the "last RSS update" resets to the last time it updated (three days ago.) Also, when I did resaved the blocks and then hit the page from a different machine, they still are not updating...

That all sounds very odd. Can you give us the URLs of those feeds, please?

Oh, and which version of Geeklog are you running?

bye, Dirk

Sure. The feeds are URLs;

1. http://news.search.yahoo.com/news/rss?p=panama&ei=UTF-8&fl=0&x=wrt (last update block says 2005-08-13 23:45:30)
2. http://p.moreover.com/cgi-local/page?c=Latin%20America%20news&o=rss002 (last update block says 2005-08-13 23:31:34)
3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_world_edition/americas/rss.xml
(last update block says 2005-08-13 23:31:3Cool

So basically, all three ran once when I first built the blocks, and have not updated since. I tried saving them again, and for a sec they reset to all zeros in the last update block, but then a minute later it resets to the times posted above, and will not update.

All three of these sources are news feeds for Panama, Latin America, and the rest of world. They are on the front page of my website at;

www.panama-guide.com

Also, I'm running GL 1.3.11

Thanks... Don

I tried the first feed and it seems to work for me. At least I seem to have one story more than you have on your site. The feed itself doesn't seem to be updated too often ...

No idea what may be going wrong there. Try it the hard way by deleting the portal block and creating a fresh one.

Ok. Can do and will try. But where is the setting that causes the blocks to update every 60 minutes? Can that be turned on or off? About four months ago I was working to establish the rss feed for the site (which now works fine) but it's possible that I bumped into something in the process. I just want to make sure that all the setting (for the portal blocks) are set as they should be.

It's hard-coded into lib-common.php and can not be changed (at least not with a configuration setting).

Ok. Might I need to replace lib-common.php with a "clean" file? Will that mess up the whole enchilada?

I don't think it has anything to do with the lib-common.php. Did you try deleting and recreating those blocks?

bye, Dirk
