How to change number of post showing on each page?

Hi- I want to have more stories stay on the homepage before being becoming an "older story". Right now it's cutting them off at 10 per page, and then I get the links at the bottom for the next page to see the previous postings.

I tried to change the "limitnews" number in the config file but that didn't appear to change anything.

Thanks.

$_CONF['limitnews'] should work just fine, but remember that it is overridden by any personal account preferences, which will continue to have an affect even after you've logged out due to cookies having been set while you were logged in.

That only affects anonymous users and the default for creation of new accounts because users can set this in their own preferences.

Log out. If still no change. try refreshing the home page.

Thanks guys, logout, logging in again and refreshing made the change.

On that note, is it possible for me to remove options from the users preference page, so that for example, they don't get to choose how many stories to display?

Thanks again...

Just remove the field in the /layout/themename/preferences/displayblock.thtml

A geeklog hacker would still be able to change the value but why bother. This just removes the convenience.
