Hi all

I have a problem that when people sign up as new users they never get their email with their temporary passwords and so are not able to participate with user benefits.

Please help! Thanks!

Banging your head Thanks for your reply Trinity. It seems that none of the recent new users recieved a confimation email with their temporary password.

I'm not sure if config.php is right. It could have been changed. I'll check again.Read the FAQ

How do I email a user from their profile?

Big Celebration Thanks again! Can someone help me

You go to their profile and click on "send email" ...

Or try emailing a story.

OK Trinity I've looked to find that folks who signed up recently are registered but they never received a password.

I'm unable to send them mail either.

I've looked through config.php in the backend file and was unable to find the code related to sending a confirmation message or registering other than Idea :

// When user submission is activated, allow users from these domains to
// register without having to go through the submission queue.
$_CONF['allow_domains'] = ''; // e.g. 'mycompany.com,myothercompany.com'

I don't what line number that is all I have notepad to look at the code. Anyone have any freeware suggestions for looking at the geeklog code?

Thanks again! Giving it a try

OK the site is using geeklog version 1.3.9sr2. When I go into users and click on someone's name I just get their site info. I'm assuming this is their profile.

N'est-ce pas?

Hi!

I remember I resolved this for a friend a while ago, he also used 1.3.9.
Are there any special characters in your $_CONF['site_name'] ?
Try use just A-Z, and I think the users mail will arrive.
I remember the log from the mailserver had hundreds of entries where connection from geeklog were terminated because of this.
Odd error, think I remember Dirk said it should be fixed in newer versions so maybe you should upgrade to aviod this?

No there are no special charachters although in the English.php I think I emboldend and enlarged the font on the site title. Maybe that's it I'll check tonight and get back to yaz.Blah Blah Blah Blah ...

Read the FAQOf course I agree upgrading is the next step which I've put off for a few moons now! Doh! - that was a mistake

Thanks again!

More information, please. What did you do now? When exactly do you get that message?

bye, Dirk

Hi Dirk

I edited english.php by changing one line for the header listing from: 'Community Events Calendar' to: 'Post Your Event' via FireFTP.

That worked fine. Then I went into the submission folder via the admin profile to edit a post and OK'd it for publication. Then I realized I needed to edit it and received the: No such input file message. I changed the english.php back and that didn't work.

Then I got the above suggestion to look at config.php and modified that to the version that I inhereted in March. Nothing changed. So I changed it back. Still no access. I checked my personal profile for access and still could not get in to edit anything. Every page, profile, etc I tried to edit I could not.

Alas... here I am. Backing up the website as we speak to prepare for the update.

Thanks
