I would like to replace the e-mail notification after registration with either:

1. a post-display of the randomized password issued by GeekLog, on the registration form just used, for (immediate) entry by the new user into the login boxes; or

2. a pop-up window showing either the e-mail itself or the starting (randomized) password issued by the system.

Anything to avoid sending out an e-mail, but still enough to deter sign-up bots. I have read the threads in the forum about Custom Registration, but none seem to talk to this technique.

In reading through the threads, I've also looked at the lib-custom.php file in /System and, as far as I can figure out, replacing the "return mail ($to, $subject, $message, $headers);" line in "function CUSTOM_mail", with some more code, might do the trick. Especially if it is possible to "redirect" the e-mail to a pop-up window or "one-time-use" non-static page or form.

I'm not a programmer, and it's probably not a snap, but this does seem the starting point. Anyone tried something like this, or know a way that (any of) the above things can be done? TIA.
