This has probably been asked hundreds of times, but I cant find a link to answer my problem.

How do you install themes. I installed the theme to the layout folder, I could see it in the menu in my preferances, I clicked it, but it has no imagies or colour, just black text on the whit background.

Anyone know where I am going wrong

Thanks.

Sounds like you've done it correctly - a theme is just a directory under the "layout" directory.

Which theme is it? Maybe it requires some special changes (any README included)?

If you're talking about Digital_Monochrome, that one is black and white Mr. Green

The something is wrong.

You should a directory for each theme (under "layout"): Yahoo, XSilver, Digital_Monochrome, etc. And chosing one of those should make a noticable difference (see the theme tester block here on the frontpage).

I see the forum thread, but when I click on the link to the image, I'm asked to log in.

Images are not allowed on the forum here, btw. Upload it via the File Management plugin ("Upload a file" from the User Functions block) if you can't put it anywhere else.

As I said, I still can't see the image ...

Anyway, it's really simple to install a theme, so I'm not sure what could go wrong there. If you've downloaded the pack of old themes, unpacked it, uploaded the "clean" directory into your site's "layout" directory (so that you now have a layout/clean directory) and then switch to that theme in your preferences and/or config.php, then that is all that's needed.

Is it only the colors that are off or do you get messages about missing files?

I cant understand why you cant see the image I posted on my forum through the link above, you need an account to post, but not to view the forum.

Anyway, I have no messages of miising parts, but it dosent look right and nothing like the demo site here. But as I cant get the picture of what I see to you, their is nothing that can be done.

I have uploaded the files in the way you have described.

Looking at the image I'm willing to bet that you need to upload the image directory for each of the themes again... I forget which setting it is though for images whether it be ascii or binary... i'm willing to bet binary... someone else here will know...

if nothing else use the ftp in ie...

Okay, I have a similar problem.

I currently have 3 themes Professional, Rude Colors and Clear Blue. The default is Professional and I have no problem as far as this them is concerned. It is the other two that I have been having issues with. I have allowed users to change their themes.
I select either Rude colors or Clear blue and apply. No problem, the theme colors kick in. But i click on home link and I get this error "Template Error: filename: file /home/zaurav/public_html/layout/ClearBlue/archivestorytext.thtml does not exist" I wonder if copy pasting from the /layout/professional folder would help. I did not however as i wanted to make sure if I could do that. Do I have to install the theme using some query or anything? Cuz I just moved the entire unzipped theme folder to the /layout folder and thats it.
I also installed the forum for geeklog (this very same oneRazz) and installation manual says I need to c&p some folder to each indiviual theme folder. I didnt quite understand which specific folder I need to put and where? Can anyone help?
Thanks

Themes made for older Geeklog versions have to be updated to work with a current version.
