Hi everyone! I was just wondering...once you install a plugin, what is safe to remove from the server? Are there anyfiles that can be removed that are no longer necessary? I'm new to this and I just want to make sure I have optimal security for my site and keep my webhosting space to a minimal Smile

That really depends on the plugin. But deleting the plugin's install script would be a start.

bye, Dirk

yes I have done that after installing the plugins. However, I am concerned that there are unnecessary file sitting in directories that don't need to be there once instlled. For example, most plugins require you to create folders in the public_html, admin/plugins and in the plugins directory areas. What I do to make sure I getthe plugin to install with little or no error msg's, I upload all files into the plugins directory and I would imagine that once I have the plugin installed, I don't need all those files to remain in the plugins directory in my root directory, correct? I jsut want to know what is safe to remove once I have the plugin installed. Thanks Smile

This is a typical pugin architecture so unless otherwise stated please stick to it. Further to Dirk's suggestion there is always a readme or other instructions that clearly say what is dispensable.

As far as I'm aware all the files that are shipped with any plugin are required. You can of course get rid off some readme and install instructions after the installation however that would be it Smile

Thanks for the reply. I do read the notes that come with the plugins and do delte the ones that are truly not necessary, but I am just trying to make sure that there aren't any other one's that are nolonger needed once it is installed. I just like to keep a clean webserver Smile
