My current hosting company that I've switched to has no previous installs of geeklog, and are unable to assist me with installation.

In their root directory, I am unable to create folders. All files must go in httpdocs. Therefore, I am unsure where to install geeklog, as I am unable to install it in the root directory.

I was able to succesfully install DB, but index.php is blank and url is as follows: www.juicedome.com/public_html/index.php

Any help would be great!

The hosting company is globat.com

Hi,

There could be some confussion in what you are allowed and what not.

If you ask your provider can I write in your root directory, I can understand them.

You should however be able to write in your own "root" directory.

Text Formatted Code

/    << this is the root directory
/home/virtuals_sites/yoursitename/   << this is your root directory
/home/virtuals_sites/yoursitename/httpdocs
...

Also have a look at this topic here

If you don´t have access to your root directory I suggest you switch provider.

Boris

Some hosting services will not let you put files outside of the web root, i.e. all the files you'll upload will be accessible from a URL.

You can still install Geeklog in such an enviroment. I just wrote up an FAQ entry for it, since this comes up from time to time: Installing Geeklog entirely within the web root

bye, Dirk
