New Geeklog logo?

I have long been looking at Geeklog as a basis for resurrecting my site, as it has all of the features that I need, and probably way more versatility than I’ll ever need. That being said – I am a tinkerer and have gotten myself into trouble here and there over the course of my experimentation.
But that is beside the point – my question is this:

Is the encircled backwards “G” that can be found at the Geeklog 2 page (http://project.geeklog.net/projects/geeklog2/) to be considered the “new” Geeklog logo? I am a big fan of simplicity, and that logo conveys so much information without any clutter (open source, copyleft, Geeklog). Just wondering if anyone else is thinking the same thing.

I’m not really in marketing . . . but sometimes I can hear the dark side calling.

Unfortunately, what you're seeing is the GForge logo (GForge is the software we're using for the bug tracker, etc., on our project site - it's a fork of the SourceForge software).

We have discussed the need for a new logo before, as the current one looks a bit out of place sometimes ...

Any graphics artists around that would be willing to give it a shot?

bye, Dirk

Just goes to show that I need to do a bit more research before asking questions. . . .

Thanks for the info.

I'd offer to do a logo - but the project deserves one that doesn't suck. However - from what I have seen of the community here - there's more than enough talent to come up with a decent logo.

Perhaps a contest could bring aspiring aritists out of the woodwork.

Just Curious about the current Logo. Any interesting history on how it came to be?

I guess as a follow up to the original question, I really like the new Paper-clip-esque GL logo featured in the new default theme.

Once again we have Victor to thank for the great job that he's done with yet another visually impressive theme.

(I blatantly modified the Aeonserv theme for my own nefarious uses.)

Just FYI: Both the new "Paperclip" logo and the old "Geeklog Guy" logo were created by Simon Lord.

bye, Dirk

P.S. And if the scaled-down version in the header appears fuzzy, that's entirely my fault
