Can't Delete Plugins

Anonymous

Anonymous
Hello, I've got several plugins installed on my site and was wanting do to some cleanup and remove the ones that I just installed to try them out, but decided not to use. But on all of them (filemgmt, classifads, and forum) when I try to use the delete function in the plugin control area, it always says "There was an error." and halts. Is there something else you have to do that I'm missing? As far as I know, they were all installed properly. Thanks!

I can confirm the problem for the Classifads plugin (had the same problem myself just the other day). I will have to look into it ... bye, Dirk

Thanks Dirk...I can update that I spent most of the afternoon re-installing and playing around with the other two, and have successfully uninstalled them. Classifads is the only one that remains. :-)

I've fixed the uninstall now. Download the new version, replace the functions.inc and admin/plugins/classifads/install.php files and try the uninstall again. It should work now ...

bye, Dirk

After deleting or disabling the Classifads plugin v. 0.3beta3, i get an error message ("An SQL error has occured. Please see error.log for details."). Had to reinstall the classifads plugin to get the website to work again. Would like to remove the classifads plugin totally. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The best way, really, would be to use the delete option from the plugin editor, as that should take care of all the data that has to be removed from the database.

If that fails, you'll have to remove the plugin data manually, specifically that one entry from the gl_plugins table and the gl_classifads table itself. You could then try to delete the Classifads Admin group from the group editor.

Using this method gave me the SQL error. We can basically still navigate around the site as long as we don't log in. Normal or Admin users will encounter the SQL problem as mention when logging in.

Where do i find the gl_plugins table and gl_classifads table?

I can delete one of the Classifads Admin Group, but it seems like it's duplicating itself. I have 5 groups with the same name, Classifads Ads Admin, only one can be deleted. When i try to click on the other 4, the error message shows ("To edit this group, you have to be a member of the group. Please contact the system administrator if you feel this is an error.")

Thanks for the help.

The table is in your MySQL database. You should be able to find it using PHPMyAdmin.

Now the entire site is down. With an error message for all registered users and admin users. Error message ("An SQL error has occured. Please see error.log for details."). Only guests are allowed into the website. Great. I'm locked out of my own website. Any suggestions or help?

The newest error message was ("Thu Aug 5 15:00:02 2004 - 1146: Table 'basement_geeklog.gl_classifads' doesn't exist. SQL in question: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM gl_classifads").

Go and create that table and then see what happens.

Of no use. Still the same problem. Is there a way out of this? Website has been down for days.. Either i fix the classifads plugin problem, or i'll have to redo a whole new site (which i'm not looking forward to).

Error message is still the same. Need to have the website up asap. Thanks for the help again.

Disable the Classifads block, if you have that, and make sure the plugin isn't listed in the gl_plugins table any more (or at least disabled there).

How do i disable the classifads block when i cannot even get to my website? Only guests are allowed in it now. And on the gl_plugins table, i don't see anything that i would understand. Pardon my ignorance, but this is what i see. Clicking on gl_plugins on PHPMyAdmin, the fields include pi_name, pi_version, pi_gl_version, pi_enabled, pi_homepage. Nothing in it makes sense as well. Everyting in it is just pi_name_9.. etc...

Is there anything else i could do to save the site? One plugin is all i need to cause chaos.

In the gl_plugins table, 'pi_enabled' is the field that indicates whether a plugin is enabled (= 1) or disabled (= 0).

Same with 'is_enabled' in the gl_blocks table.
