Forget about having to manually edit config files to hack gallery into your Geeklog site. The new version of Gallery lets you choose Geeklog as an option to intergrate with and works with your existing users automatically. I just downloaded the new Release Candidate of gallery and installed it in on of my GL sites and it seems to work great. You might want to wait a bit till the final comes out, but this is a huge improvement in functions and security over the current GL/Gallery integration that is floating around. I am running the GL 1.3.9 on Linux and it picked up all of the server side stuff it needed almost automatically. you should check it out http://gallery.sourceforge.net/

Just as a sidenote: This integration was build in cooperation with and based on the code from vinny, the one who made the current integration. Wink

And btw, I didn't realized any security issues with the old integration, but yes, the new gallery integration is more comfortable Smile

I am new to Geeklog and need some help on where to upload gallery. I know in nuke it goes into modules but where in geeklog. I really like geeklog a lot and would like to get Gallery running with it. Are there any directions on where and how to install Gallery?
TIA,
Mark

Just install it in your public_html directory. You also need to create a directory do store your albums into. Just follow the gallery setup and when it asks for it, say that you want it to be embedded in geeklog and enter the pathes it asks for. That should be all (If you use the 1.4.3 vesrion)

OK, I've installed Gallery 1.4.3RC3. I used the Geeklog embed option. My question is how do I get it to show up, or the link to it on the frontpage? Sorry I am new at this.
Any help is appreciated.

Oh... since gallery is not a geeklog plugin, you will need to add the link to your album.php manually into the /your_theme/header.thtml.
You could append it to the existing menu tag {menu_elements}{plg_menu_elements} or just replace that compleatly with your own naviagtion links.

Same problem, different day I guess. As of right now, I am running an up-to-date version of GL 1.3.9 and a Gallery of version 1.4.3-RC3. I chose to embed it into Geeklog and specified the path, but it is still not integrated. I modified the code in wrapper.header and wrapper.header.default like the previous posts stated, but to no avail. I am wondering what else I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

For some reason, when I upgraded to 1.3.9 and then installed the latest version of Gallery, I selected the Geeklog embed option, but its still not integrated. Did I miss something?

I would not have an answer on how to fix this, as I had the same problems for quite some time. I ended up giving up, and just backup up my old Gallery installation and installed 1.4.3-RC from _scratch_. Now it is embedded in Geeklog quite nicely. I would recommend a fresh install if you have having troubles upgrading and getting it to be embedded.

I backed up my previous installation, removed it from my server, and did a fresh install (according to the gallery docs). I basically mimic'd my old installation and chose to embed it in Geeklog, and it worked like a charm!

So I guess for now the solution is not to upgrade, but to create a fresh install. I'll try that then. Thanks!

I didn't have a problem upgrading to 1.4.3RC3. But I do notice that when it upgrade my albums it hangs with no error. Also I have a problem with 1.4.3RC3 and ffmpeg to create thumbnails for my movies. I am glad that I am using 1.4.3rc3 on my test site w/Geeklog. Maybe I just wait til the final version to patch ffmpeg with gallery. I just dont know why dont they just include this feature in gallery. I wonder if gallery2 can be embedded into geeklog, which has movie thumbnail creation.
