Hi,

I'm new to geeklog; I'm trying to find a similar product for years, tried php-nuke, post-nuke, envision, but let them all go in a matter of hours... I found geeklog last week, and I must say it looks far superior from any of others mentioned above...

I only have one problem with geeklog: I'm looking to this kind of products to power a personal, "friends-only" website were I want my users to be able to upload content, like funny pictures, jokes, etc... Searching these forums, I came to the conclusion that the only way to give my users the ability to upload pictures with their stories is to give them story.submit privileges, but then, whatever they submit is automatically approved... am I correct?...

Is there any way to modify geeklog to give any logged-in user the ability to upload pictures with their stories?...

Thanks in advance,

Gustavo Melo

That would require quite a lot of work, I'm afraid.

Maybe using on of the image gallery solutions would be an option? You could allow your friends to upload images to the galleries.

bye, Dirk

Thats no good. What about just changing the thtml file and adding the pic upload fields Dirk? Would that work?

Nope, Dirk wasn't lying when he said it would be a lot of work. It's not as easy as changing a thtml file.

Unless you want to do major code changing in the core, you have a few options:
1) Just give your users Story Admin privs. That is by far the easiest solution
2) Like Dirk said, install Gallery and let users upload images there. Then, let users link to those images in their stories.
3) Do the same as 2 but install the upage plugin instead of Gallery. The upage plugin also lets users upload images.
4) Use a different, third party upload script that allows anyone to upload images to a directory on your site. Then, story writers can link to those images.
5) Tell people to host their images elsewhere (PhotoBucket is a good place).
