I am working on a new theme which will hopefully prove radical. I need help though and anyone who helps me I promise to release this new theme to them the second it's done. It is a clean high tech graphic intensive theme.

The theme requires a set of blocks lined up horizontally directly beneath the header and horizontally directly above the footer. Instead of left or right blocks, they'll be called header and footer blocks.

In order for this hack to work, I would like to keep all PHP required code within the theme's functions.php file and not in lib-custom. Please try to keep HTML out of the PHP code so to seperate it from it's design counterpart.

Although letting you know about the horizontal plan is not neccessary I feel it is important to note exactly why some new custom block containers are needed. If anyone feels up to helping me out, I'll try my best to not disappoint you.

Also it would be extremely nice to have both the header and footer blocks either show at the same time or a choice of which to show at any point. Hopefully this kind of design will be considered for future Geeklog versions.

Thanks Scurvydawg,

I've just been out and about looking for ways to spice up information delivery and thought having an option of placing blocks horizontally would help in that area.

Here are a few more options which should hopefully make it into the theme. Since this is a hack most likely it doesn't have to completely intergrate into the blocks editor.

I was thinking, using the power of "PHP Block Options" the power of aligning block placement could be made easier. e.g. hdr_1 or ftr_3. Basically, hdr and ftr are prefixes for the block placement whereas the number following is the order within the placement from left to right.

Here are some options which have to be made available in which I've failed to mention in my first post.

The option of each block having a different look is important. Also the blocks must have the power of looking completely different than the left and right block counterparts.

e.g. The farthest left block and the farthest right block of a horizontal line-up can have curved corners instead of squared corners. All blocks within the mix can have squared corners ultimately creating what seems to look like one piece.

e.g. By making the header and footer templates take on completely different looks than the left and the right, it'll be far easier to create an even greater original interface with this kind of power.

I would like the theme to look different in every respect. If I come up with any more ideas I'll be sure to share them here. Thanks for any help from any one and thanks again Scurvydawg for your compliment!
