Hello out there. I am getting ready to buy a new dell and instead of buying memory upgrades from them, i was gonna buy it after market. Does anyone know if i can take out the existing memory card and replace with 2 new cards before i even plug in or turn on the computer upon its arrival? is it even ok to remove its original memory, or do you have to just upgrade with a second card? any help or suggestions would be great, thanks.

Oops!
sorry, I didn't want to be rude. This forum is quite specialized to a special software (geeklog) but maybe you are lucky and someone could help you.

Well, Gekow is right, this isn't a hardware forum, so this is somewhat off topic.

In short though, to answer your question, if you are talking about a desktop/tower Dell PC, then the answer is yes, you can strip out the memory and replace it with cheaper memory from another company.

If it is a laptop, the answer is maybe. Laptops tend to be a little more picky about what memory they accept.

Personally, I would strongly recommend against buying a Del, I'd buy the wholething 'aftermarket'...... but that is just me, and I build all my own boxes anyway.
