Hi everyone, I'm wondering if anyone can help me with the rss news plugin.

The plugin works great for me, I had no problems setting it up, however, whe I set the plugin to global default, it brings the news up for annonymous users, but when someone sign's up, in the block this appears 'Sorry, your news provider is currently unavailable.'

This can be fixed by simply going in to setting's and selecting a news provider.

The thing i would like to know is, can this be set without having to do the extra step? I took all the news feeds out except one hoping that this would just come through itself, but to no avail. There is only one that I would like to show for now, but later I would like to add others... keeping the original as default.

Any ideas on this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The plugin is designed to function the way you describe. The global default *should* become the default for all users. The global default is only overwritten if the user selects his/her own default feed.

I’ve never seen a scenario when the global default has not worked. Perhaps you found a bug? Have you seen any error messages indicating that the global default failed to set properly?

Can you walk me through the steps you took to set the global default?

Hi Squatty, thanks for the reply Smile

All I did to set global default was go to the admin section and select it. I did have all the feeds workingat first (i.e the ones that come with plugin were all working and were able to be selected), then I discovered the problem. I then took all the feeds out leaving only one. This unfortunatly didnt make any difference. Like I said before, it works fine if your not logged in, but if you sign up, you then have to select it.

The URL to the site is www.worldclubdjs.com if you want to take a look at it.

Again thanks for the reply and any help

Did you fix it? When I went to your site, the news block was working.

BTW, I dig your theme...you should release it ;-)

Yes the news block works fine when you're annonymous. Its when you sign up that the problems start, thats when it misbehaves. As soon as a new user has logged in they are required to set which news provider they want. I want to bypass them having to make the decision and just have the global default still appearing. If they want to get adventurous later then it will be fine for them to change it, but at the minute, they are logging in and not seeing anything. It wasnt until a user told me about it today that I noticed it did that.

The theme isnt my handy work, its a theme from Aeonserv, he should take the credit for it, I just added my modifications to it Smile

I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Let's start with the basics...can you reply back with the following:

A. Operating system
B. Type of hosting (dedicated or shared)
C. Geeklog Version
D. Web Server Version
E. PHP Version

Thanks

If you have shell access, try command "httpd -v" without quotes.

Anyone else having the same problems as me? I could really do with fixing this. My only other way to fix it is to remove the plugin and go back to having one RSS feed coming through a block. That way theres too many feeds (I think 15)
