freakingout
All my English language sites works fine with SR1 and SR2 upgrade, but I have a UTF-8 site that changes some of the texts of the newly posted stories to unreadable. I reversed it back to the old lib-common.php and it works.

- Is it 'kses' that causes the problem? I guess so because it was the only change I saw according to the CVS.

- I hope I am not at risk of security by using the 1.3.8-1 lib-common.php with GL 1.3.8-SR2.

- If it continues this path, GL will not be compatible with some foreign languages, especially UTF-8 Asian languages in my case. I am very concerned because I might have to stay with 1.3.8-1 for such sites in the future.

I am sure kses is there for our security benefit. Maybe someone can help me figure out how to make it not to change the foreign language text posted to the story boxes. (The problem does not exist with the story's subject line though. Only with the story content.)

-----edit----
I found out that I also had to replace config.php with the old one. Risk?

I've even forgotten I had posted this message, until someone email me about the same problem and asking if I found a solution.

It seems that GL has taken a route that leaves the foreign language sites behind. I wish I could contribute to the solution.

I agree it's unfortunate. We already have a somewhat related bug report and my advice would be the same for you: Please tell the kses developers about that.

kses is really a godsend in terms of making HTML formatted posts secure. I'm sure the developers will be able to improve the support for foreign languages / other character sets in future versions.

bye, Dirk

Thanks Dirk. I'll do that.
