I have given a user access rights - Story Admin, Topic Admin. But when he try to edit any stories, there is a access denied ... ... error message.

I have also ticked all permissions.

He cannot edit any stories unless I give him root access.

The user has every access right but root and still can't edit the story?

What if the user tries to edit a story that he/she submitted? That should work. The only stories that story admins can edit are the ones they submit and the ones that are specifically checked with group WRITE privs with the group being "Story Admin".

The user also cannot edit the story that he submitted. And he has been given story admin, topic admin rights.

The permissions in the story has also been all selected. This is really weird to me. He was able to do it previously. Juz suddenly it happened in such a way. I think the last thing that he did was a nick change ( he changed himself, he has the rights ).

Anyone ??? Question Question

Just to follow-up on the issue posted:

Yesterday I installed a fresh copy of geeklog-1.3.8sr3 for our site and we are having the exact same problem as xspace.

The system is running FreeBSD 4.9 rc0 with php 4.3.4RC1.

Please let me know if other information is needed or what we can do to troubleshoot this for you guys.

Thanks.

Someone suggested to me that this is probably the reason of a faulty install -- though I had followed the directions to a t, I decided a fresh download / install on a different host couldn't hurt (same server however).

I am having the exact same problem there as well. The default install does not allow users who sign up to edit their own stories. Adding these users to other groups does not fix the problem unless the user is added to Group: root.

Other than this problem, everything else is working flawlessly. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Try changing the permission of the Topics, even if you have already set the topic's permission to let Story Admin edit it.
