Quote by jef: OK, so I know I'll never recieve my new Crystal Wand Ebony super duper dildo monster, but I've ordered it anyway.

It was a painless procedure, excepted for a few things:

1) When one is creating an account, you only ask for email and login name. You really should ask for the whole thing, as in default osC: address and everything you should need to order a thing. The fact is: no matter GL stuff and everything, your site is serving 1 purpose over the rest: selling stuff. It's not logical to have to enter your shipping-billing address as you buy something. This should already be done at account creation.

I originally did this but the client didn't like it and only wanted the username and password. Since she is paying the bills I have to do what she says. Its not hard to change it back but some of the default osC error correction and tax zones would have to be translated over to GL.

Quote by jef:
2) I've entered a very silly note when ordering. A short text in the comment text field. Then the system asked me about my addresses and blah blah blah... And then, the text was gone! I didn't had the inspiration to write back my silly text involving geespotting allusions, but nevertheless, I was frustrated (again). If you'd have taken my whole pedigree from the starting point, it would have worked I guess... As in standard osC.

When you first went to the checkout page did it not redirect you to an address page before you could even type in comments? I noticed this issue once in the past but couldn't repeat it. I will take a look at this.
Quote by jef:
3) There's no explanation about Male G-Spot. I was intrigued at first to read the words Male and G-Spot in the same sentence. Then, you left me down on my way to satisfy my thirst for knowledge. Again, frustration.

Not all the content is on the site yet. Check back next week there should be plenty of info to satisfy ;-)
Quote by jef:
4) When we are in the "store" part of your site, there's the old standard osC message greating us: Welcome back Dude... or the name you entered with the address, and then, always on top, you have «Welcome to LoveNectar.com, loginname». This is more greeting than I need. You should configure your top message for showing the "real" first name of customers, and then, you should forget about asking for a login name, as you'll follow my counsel in item 1) and go for a standard osC login system: email + password, hopefully a password chosen by customers.

I am going to remove the osC greeting all together due to a different issue with it.
Quote by jef:
Finally...) Your top graphic is quite elaborate (and very 56k modem unfriendly). I think that everything below needs redesign. I won't go as far as telling you what you should do, I understand you were on a quest for breaking the block mold in opening the frontiers, but since your template is still basic GL-osC square formed, you should obey square rule #1: clear delimitation of the space. Otherwise, I'd suggest you break the whole column pattern and explore new ways of displaying infos, which I understand is more complicated. And please, strip your site from old osC graphic stuff. I think a good start would be to work on your css.

Once again this my clients desire overwriting mine (and apparently yours). If my client agreed with you I would be more then happy to take her money and change it.

I will most likely remove some of the default osC graphic stuff but I am not going to make more without getting properly compensated.

It's only my 50 cents canadian.

Do you need to test your work an another site?

Thanks for helping test! Hopefully removing the ™ from the site name will fix your email issues. I didn't delete your non-working accounts yet but I will so you could test the emails again. I think its an issue with your email client, but I really don't know for sure.

The GL footbar where you read:
«Copyright © 2003 LoveNectar.com
All trademarks and copyrights on this page are owned by their respective owners. Powered By GeekLog
Created this page in 0.24 seconds »

should appear at the bottom of the page, not the bottom of articles when showing stories. Look at "about Thia". Btw, she looks great for her "30 years training experience".

And don't forget to post something about Male-G-Spotting... I'm still intrigued.

I a closed table tag in there somewhere it shouldn't be, I haven't tracked it down yet.

There is plenty of male g-spot information on the current (non-GL/osC) site at lovenectar.com if your really interested.

[edit: It was actually a lack of a close table tag in article.thtml thanks for pointing it out]

Ok, I've checked and email is working. Issue is closed. But something else is wrong:

1) When logged in, I've noticed one can't "delete" its account by himself. Right or wrong?

2) Under "User Functions >> Account Information" you ask AGAIN for Usename, pw and login name, with title: New Member User Registration. This is not good.

3) Product reviews: you should find a way to filter that info. I've just commented twice about the black dildo... Bad... Because of the nature of the product sold, maybe it's wrong to allow users who gave only an email address to put any comments... Think about it, and go fast erasing my 2 comments.

Silly me!

So taking the ™ out of the site name worked? You are recieving emails from the site on your regular addresses now?

Hmmm the issue never came up yet, I guess that is an important one to add.

Yeah it seems to be showing the wrong info there, I will have to take a look at it.

hmmm I guess I could use GL's filter to censor that info. Ideally I would change it to work with GL's submission queue, but that seems like a bit of work. I will probably just turn off the reviews until I fix this situation. Thanks for pointing it out.
Also when you mentioned before about your comments at the checkout page did it not ask for your address BEFORE you were even able to type in a comment?

Yes, your tm issue have worked. I can get emails.

Other problem:

Chain of event:

Choose the ebony crystal wand and add it to cart
Click checkout
Click New User
Receive password
Enter login and password
Click Checkout
See Delivery Info page with text area "Add Comments About Your Order"
Write stuff
Click "Continue"
Write address
See Delivery Information page again, with text area "Add Comments About but without message
Then you just continue

have fun!

I have made a ton of changes that will hopefully address all these issues. I believe I have fixed all the bugs anyone has found thanks a lot for all your testing and patience.

I erased all the test accounts so go ahead and use the same email address (it doesn't require a valid email anymore but I would prefer you used one) as you did before.

This site is set to go live on the first of January. So any help testing now would be great! I have started to make a new version that works with a default GL install so I can package it as a plugin for everyone to use, but it will take a bit of time to get all the kinks worked out (and no one is paying me to do it so the motivation isn't there at the moment). Also I think I will wait until this site is running for a bit to see if there are any remaining issues before I release it.

Thank you to all who placed test orders. Please don't place any more test orders, since google found the site people are placing real orders already. The site is now going to be live I guess (hope its ready).

I think your osCommerce looks real good, I like it. However I notice that I am not on a secure connection when it's time to put in a credit card number. Will have be resolved?

Will you be making it available for download?

This is great Dr.
The site is great. The integration is great. You are great.

The plugin you talk about, would it be easy to have it connect an existing GL site and an already existing osC site - a site with LOTS of custom config - ?

And if the osC site has a kind of Mall system, could it be easy to plug one of the Mall's store to a GL site?

Tell me more because it might interest me in contributing for this plugin (as well as others I think).

Thx

You should have been, this is the only page that uses your CC info: https://lovenectar.com/source/store/checkout_payment.php

I was working on it last night, so perhaps when you used it, it wasn't working properly.

No the personal address book is 100% osCommerce I only added a few GL specific things to it, like I did to every osC page.

As long as you haven't changed much about the user login and such it should work. I am not sure how it will work if you are using the custom login features (I use the GL plugin login features). For the most part, if other plugins work properly then so should this one. Adding your users to the osC plugin isn't in the install code, but it shouldn't be too hard to add since it just uses a couple of tables.

As long you haven't changed the osC database structure to much it shouldn't be to difficult to import all your products, I think importing your osC customers to GL on the other hand would require a bit of thought/effort. But since you would be adding a ton of features to your osC site, having your customers sign up again in GL wouldn't be to difficult for them to understand.

I just got another job doing a flash site, that is a rush ($$$Wink job so once that's done, I will have more time to get this out the door.

How do you handle HTTPs and automatic credit card transactions?

BTW you can download it here: Geeklog-osCommerece plugin

I am making no guarantees, some people on windows servers have had issues with it. No one on linux, or unix have had issues yet, and not everyone on windows has had issues. If you have problems please email me at nappp_osc@theouldsod.com and I will try to respond. I don't have much time (and my time is very rarely free these days).

Good Luck!

Because Geeklog uses cookies if you want to use SSL (https) then you have to have a certificate for the same server as your geeklog site is on for instance if your Geeklog site is http://blah.com then your secure server has to be https://blah.com.

For credit cards it just uses what ever credit modules you have turned on in osComerece.
