Folks,

There are still a few hard-coded parts of GL which can make it difficult to do a global rename or change once a decision has been made. An easy way to do a global change of just about anything is simply do a 'Save DB' and use UNIX 'vi' or 'sed' to do a textual replacement on the DB of whatever you want to change.

Obviously you want to know at least a bit about what you are doing here, but if you do it's quick and easy. Once you make the change you then have to make a leap of faith the first time you do this and trust yourself, because you then have to delete your entire DB and all tables and data!!!

Then just reimport your DB. It's a good way to practice your backup and restore / disaster recovery systems, too.

Oh, the latest from the The Beer (Geek) Site™" is a recipe for How to Get Rid of Leftover Steak (with beer in the recipe, of course) from globally renouned Beer and Cooking author Stephen Beaumont!

cheers,
-Alan
