I happened to come across this very cool file manipulation (download) utility/script named paFileDB.

Over the past few days, I've been tweaking the script to integrate into Geeklog. Thus far I have managed to integrate everything but the security/authentication component. The licenses prevents me from packaging up and re-distributing my work but, I can point you at the main integration file here.

Simply replace the pafiledb.php of the original distribution with the code from the above "hack" and you will have yourself an “integrated download plug-in”.

You can see my work in action here. Note, I have done a lot of customization...

On a side note, I know a fellow by the name of Mr.GxBlock (from http://www.gxblock.com/) is in the process of creating a fully integrated download plug-in.

installing pafileDB 3.0 (beta something, I think is the same you use) and replacing the file pafiledb.php

Warning: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/medusa/public_html/public_html/lib-common.php(407) : eval()'d code:11) in /home/medusa/public_html/public_html/pafiledb3/pafiledb.php on line 51

Warning: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /home/medusa/public_html/public_html/lib-common.php(407) : eval()'d code:11) in /home/medusa/public_html/public_html/pafiledb3/pafiledb.php on line 51

The downloads section seems semi-integrated. but it changes some colors (fonts) of my geeklog hacked theme

I remarked out the session_start(); on line 51 and the errors went away when I did the install. Not quite sure what it does yet.

GL needs a download plugin and phparena's paFileDB looks to have a nice set of features. Visited your site and you have intergrated it nicely. I checked out phparean's site and they have a number of other php tools they have written as well. Are you considering integrating the admin features and is there any security such as limiting access to registered users? cheers, Blaine

I have no intentions of fully integrating the code. This was just a quick hack for my own site that I thought GL users might want to take a look at. In addition, the license prevents the re-distribution of any modified versions so making this a plug-in is really not very likely. If you're looking for a true plug-in go to http://www.gxblock.com/. He is releasing a GL download plug-in soon.
