metasearch block

I have just uploaded the code for a metasearch block. It is available here

This block basically provides a hook into the scootascope metasearch engine and returns the results in a way that should respect the current layout scheme.

I hope to add some further features to this block over time and am receptive to suggestions if you have a need for a block like this.

As this metasearch engine collates and does some preliminary relevancy ranking it can sometimes be a little slow on the return. There's not really any way to fix this as it is primarily an issue relating to the network itself.

I will have a couple of other simple blocks sorted out in the next couple of days for concordancing web pages (a pet hobby of mine?), weights and measures conversions and a food additive detector block (as a result of living in the UK and trying to avoid MSG).

Have fun.

Is there a working example that we can view?-----John http://www.slapd.net http://john.hoke.org

Sorry - yes. I've put an example of this block onto nearlywed.net despite it being slightly off-topic for this site's primary set of interest!

Of course the response time for this site's searches may not be indicative as it is hosted on the same server as the metasearch engine itself.

I'd say there needs to be something more during the wait period ... maybe there'd be a way to "flush" the top part of the page, background color, and such to the server and visitor, so that part at least was visible while the search was going on.
