Several Plugin writers are busy at work. I have two plugins installed on my site that are in the final stages of testing. Come by The Pigstye to see both the new native picture gallery and the new native forum in action.

Blaine and Matthew are working on the forum started by Mr GXBlock. Its looking good. Besides my site you can see it in action at Blaine's Site or Country Web Matthews Site.

The Geekary a built in Gallery is being developed by Mosiach. Besides my site you can see it at Beacon of Light Studios his site.

Do drop by somewhere and leave your comments and suggestions. Stress the sites and see if you can break them. Tell the authors what you like and what you do not understand. Let them know you appreciate all their work -- thats the only pay they will get.

Would be nice if members could create their own albums (shared or private) and have their own pictures uploaded(pictures also individually shared or private). Theres already ratings and comments, so would be nice to have highest rated, most comments, most viewed. Keywords on pictures, descriptions, extra picture fields so can do search on. Integrated into geeklog search

Of the two, I think the forum is the best. Smile The Geekary already has the search functions built in. Stats as well. Members cannot create their own Geekegory, but the admin can create it for them to their specs. In the most open setup (and remember this is on a Geekegory level, so you can have Albums that are closed and others wide open) the only group of users who cannot upload to the Geekary are anonymous users. And even then if the Admin really wanted to (I don't recommend it) they could manipulate the database to open it up for anonymous uploads. Let's talk about rights for a second. There are three new groups and 4 new rights created at install. Geekary Admin,Geekegory Admin, Geekager are the groups. geekary, geekegory, geekages.add and geekages.view are the new rights. I wrote the Geekary in such a way that you could totally ignore all of these except for Geekary Admin and Geekegory Admin if you choose and simply use the permission levels to allow or deny access. Or, if you assign these groups or rights to users the script will ignore (for the most part, there is some checking still for the geekegories that a user is allowed to see) the permission levels you choose. So say you want to create an album that only Bob could upload to, but that logged in users can view and anonymous users can't. You build a Geekegory with Bob as the owner, Logged in Users as the group, RE privs for Owner, R privs for Group, and no privs for Members or Anonymous. And there you go. Remember of course you aren't limited to one Geekegory. I explained it once as: The Geekary is a museum, and the Admin decides what can be in that museum. A museum needs rooms and each room holds different exhibits. Anyway, I'm rambling. Try it out. Release should be tomorrow or Tuesday depending on the reports I get back. If there is a feature you'd like to see (that doesn't break the security model too terribly much) I'm very open to suggestion. I've already got a list a mile long for features I'd like to see in the next release (including fixing downloads and adding moderation.) Moshiach

Err, don't get me wrong, but don't you think you're overdoing the "geeky" language a bit? "The Geekary contains several Geekegories" ... This is beginning to sound like the Smurf language where every second word is "smurf". Just a note on the wording - the software itself is looking great. bye, Dirk

But also, by the way, you can change the names in the language files. The only thing you can't change is the names of the php files themselves which will of course show up in the url. You want to call them Gallery, Albums, Pictures and Ecards, hey its no skin off my nose. Smile I was thinking of releasing a special language file just for you Dirk. It's the Porno theatre,Screens,Pornos, and Dirty Postcards. If you're interested let me know Wink And lay off the smurfy smurfs. They are just so smurfy its beyond words. Smurfilicious. I always wondered about them anyway. All these male smurfs and one little ol female. Did she pull a lot of trains or what? And Papa Smurf! Man, who's your daddy?

Hehe, no offense meant. The first time I heard about this, I had a hard time even understanding what it's all about. But I'm geeky to geek that you can geek the geeks in the geek file any way you geeking want ;-) bye, Dirk

Can this title be changed? I don't mind using it internally but I want people to be able to access images without ever having to see the word geekary.

Sure look at the install on my site. A simple edit of the language file.
