ability to configure gldefault blocks?

First, thanks for the effort you guys put out. In targeting sections towards different users at the site I bumped up across the inability to restrict certain "gldefault" blocks as easily/neatly as I can those added later. In the Block Editor via Admin I cannot, for example, restrict the Poll Block to only one area (topic) of the site, and this goes the same for most other core blocks (Users, Contents, Whats New). I also noticed that they are owned by group: Root rather than Block Admin. Is there any way to get some of these blocks to be topically configurable like other blocks? Thanks, Frank

In a word: No. We had a discussion about these restrictions recently (can't remember if it was on IRC or on the mailing list) but nothing came from it. I would suggest you submit this as a feature request on the project pages so that it's not forgotten (again) ... bye, Dirk

I've noticed in MySQL that there seems to be a flag for gldefault something in these blocks. What would happen if I disabled that flag?---L. Whitworth www.finiserv.com
