I have exported GL into a .sql file using the mysqldump command via SSH (putty) and have download it onto a local moachine. I am thinking of switching my virtual host company as their speepd is getting worse and they goes down from time to time. Possible to install a copy of GL when i move to a new server then import the data back seamlessly? Would static pages links be affected? DO i have to use the exact same path as it is now on my current server? Any easier way of doing it? regards - my GL site is @ http://rssitzone.etegration.com

Yes, exporting the database (btw, why did you not use Geeklog's built-in backup functionality?) and importing it into a new database should work seamlessly, including the static pages. The path layout on your new host should be the same, if possible. Geeklog stores some paths for the "What's related" options in the database (it shouldn't, but that's the way it currently is). bye, Dirk

Hi Dirk, I have similar situation. But my problem is I have limited access to my Web hosting's mysql admin. So the question is: Is there a import method in geeklog to read back a backup sql file? Thanks!
