Hello there, I have just been trying to install geeklog 1.31 on a virtual server via ftp. The server OS is FreeBSD. Recent versions PHP and MySQL are installed and working I have modified some of the php files as per instructions but could not work out how to apply the chown command via ftp. On running the install procedure I see the following message Warning: Failed opening '/usr/geeklog/system/classes/template.class.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/home/learntochange/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/install/install.php on line 765 Warning: Failed opening '/usr/geeklog/config.default' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/home/learntochange/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/install/install.php on line 82 Warning: Failed opening 'lib-database.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/home/learntochange/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/install/install.php on line 644 Warning: Failed opening 'databases/.class.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /usr/home/learntochange/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/install/install.php on line 645 Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: database in /usr/home/learntochange/public_html/geeklog/public_html/admin/install/install.php on line 646 Clearly I am doing something very wrong. Any clues or advice would be appreciated Thanks Tony

Well, first make sure that the files in quesiton all exist in the said path. If that doesn't work, try including that path in you include_path in php.ini and restart your webserver and see if that doesn't fix it. ----- The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.

Thanks for the reply. I will try the second approach. If the install requires the server to be restarted I do not expect that level of support from a virtual hosting service. Could you give me one before and after example (one line) as I am not a PHP programmer and otherwise am likely to try out several strange variations before getting it right Thanks Tony

Actually I have realised how clueless I am concerning basic unix server issues so I will ask for help from a local network with their own server and stop messing around with a virtual upload. Thereafter maybe I can ask some sensible questions Wink Stay well Tony
