Menu 1.3.0 for Geeklog is now available.

This new release brings a major modernization of the Menu plugin while preserving compatibility with existing Geeklog installations, menu structures and legacy rendering.

Menu 1.3.0 is designed for real-world use on existing sites, with support for Geeklog 2.1.1 through 2.2.2 and PHP 5.6 through 8.1. The release improves security, performance, administration, multisite support and integration with modern Geeklog themes.

The goal of Menu 1.3.0 is not to reinvent navigation or force existing sites into a new architecture.

The modernization has deliberately been conservative: preserve what already works, remove obsolete code, strengthen weak points and provide cleaner foundations for future development.

Existing menu structures, permissions, ordering and legacy rendering remain supported, while the internal architecture has been substantially cleaned up.

Geeklog has been with us for a long time. It has survived waves of change that completely reshaped the web: blogs, social networks, smartphones, cloud platforms, APIs, mobile-first design, social commerce and now artificial intelligence.

More than a decade after its original introduction, Hello, one of the most complete newsletter plugins ever developed for Geeklog, is finally back with a modernized version designed for Geeklog 2.1.1 through 2.2.2.

The first Hello announcement on Geeklog.net dates back to November 2013, when the plugin was introduced for Geeklog 2.0. The downloadable Hello 2.1 package from that period already allowed administrators to create and send HTML emails to groups, while providing a plain-text alternative for mail clients that did not support HTML. Today, Hello 2.2.1 brings that concept up to date with improved deliverability, campaign statistics, click and open tracking, safer unsubscribe handling, throttled sending and a substantially improved digest system. The current code officially targets Geeklog 2.1.1–2.2.2 and PHP 5.6–8.x, according to the project documentation.
