Workaround for Common Images in Stories

I'm setting up a Geeklog site that has access controls, and I want the readers who are logged in with privileges (dealers) to know if they are looking at an access controlled page or not. I don't want them to tell the general public (customers) any of the details from the access controlled stories. I want the logged in user to know that they are seeing a story that is considered private vs a public one. I didn't see any easy way to do this with built-in tools, so I want to add a lock icon at the beginning of the story. I know I could use separate topics, but I don't want to have the logged in users to have to look in two places. And, I could add the word Private, but an icon is more appealing.

So, here is my solution: If you have a set of images, like icons, that you want to use in stories, you can create a static page with just the image in it <img src="lock_icon.png"> and then when you want to insert the image in a story, just use [ staticpage_content: ID Private ] in the story with ID set to the ID of the static page that contains the image.

The Access Denied missing link was because I put in Geeklog format codes [ and ]. The text was:

Left_Square_Bracket staticpage_contents: ID Private Right_Square_Bracket

Thanks for the tip. I've edited your original post to make the "access denied" message go away.

bye, Dirk
