My forum has suddenly stopped displaying pictures inserted with the <IMG> tags. No error messages, it will just display the post with the broken link ???

Just a little more info ........ as above, the forum is not displaying images within posts. I've also checked previous posts with images, and they are not displaying either.

Smileys, avatar's and all other bbcode seems to be OK.
The forum gets approx 200 visitors a day, and has been running for a couple of years without any problems.

Images every else on the site - in stories, static pages, media gallery, etc; - are all fine.
TIA

I can't think of anything at the moment off the top of my head that could be causing the problem (unless you moved the images or something). You could email me your site address and I can have a quick look.

Think it is resolved !!!!!

Thanks for the responses guys ... I haven't made any changes/updates recently so discounted that immediately.

It sounds a little bizarre .... I got an e-mail from a user saying that they couldn't post a pic, and kept getting a message saying 'spam detected'. I'd only posted one myself about 10 days ago, so started checking all their posts since - I found one that (although it had no pic in it) had a malformed URL. I deleted the <img .....</img> and reposted the original post - and everything came back up !!!!!

Just very glad it's up and running again, but if anyone can explain this to me, I would be genuinely interested.
Thanks again
Dave

An update on this ........
Users on the forum can now post pics ......... but I cannot even with the admin account. It would appear (below) that the post is being corrupted in some way.

If I post the image as -
Text Formatted Code
[img]http://mysite.com/images/forum/imagename17nov10.jpg[/img]

when I check on the failed pic properties, it's showing as -

Text Formatted Code
http://mysite.com/images/forum/%3Cfont%20class=highlight%3Ecavan%3C/font%3E17nov10.jpg

I've also tried moving the folder location to different places, even a different domain that I control.
I've even tried putting them on PhotoBucket (where most of my users are), and still get the same result ???????????

Anyone got any ideas/advice ??????
Thanks in advance

It could be a corrupt forum file. Did you try to upload a fresh copy of the forum plugin?

If other users can and you cannot (under anonymous or admin user) that would seem to suggest a browser issue or something on your pc.

Does previewing the forum post before submitting it work?

Didn't want to try reinstalling anything - in case I lose anything, or make it worse ??

Tom
Yep, previewing works wherever I store pics, but when I come off forum and go back it is 'broken'.

Anon
It used to work OK, but maybe when I had the problem with other users pics, something got changed. Where do I check this ??

many thanks guys
