Pre-install question

Anonymous
Hi. I am wondering if Geeklog can be "added" to my existing html page, so I can gather comments. I have been learning a CMS (Joomla) but am a little overwhelmed. I know how to build sites with html (Dreamweaver) much quicker.
Al I really want is to add the capability for visitors to add their comments below my video, on just one page (index)--but without learning all the CMS stuff--I want to add to existing html page.
Is this able to be done? Thanks very much.

Hi,
It's more simple to begin with geeklog than dreamweaver. So if you need the comment engine you should learn how to install geeklog.
In less than 4 hours you can have a nice portal with your videos.

Hi Ben.
Yes, I'm sure it's easier than Dreamweaver but I don't want to start learning a whole new CMS; I already know Dreamweaver, and how to work with a video player and playlists and all that--with html pages.
So can you please tell me, can I add the comment engine to the middle of an html page?
Thank you.

Hi Derek,
No you can not because the comment engine is a part of the CMS and you need the CMS to make it work...
But with the CMS and the static page plugin you can publish your html pages with videos and let's user make comments.
Try the demo site and create a static page with your html code...

Hi Ben.
I see the demo site's up now
You suggested I, "Try the demo site and create a static page with your html code..."
I'm afraid I don't know how to do that (create a static page with my html code..?). Is it difficult?
Thank you,
-Derek

Very easy
1. Just log in as an admin on the demo site,
2. Visit the static page manager
3. Create a new static page
4. Give a title, paste your html code in the text aera, check centerblock and hit save button.
Your page is up on the front page

Okay, that was easy! Last question (I hope)...
My test html static page was displayed in the centerblock, with the default style all around it. My html currently contains all the style (css)--which of course matches all my other html pages.
How hard is it to "get rid" of all that default style, so that my page will look like the rest of my site?
Thanks again Ben,
-Derek

Two solutions :
You will need to make your own theme. See this documentation...
or edit your static page and choose Page Format: Blank page

Geeklog is very similar to Joomla but as it has no backend it is easier to understand for the admin. Geeklog`s templates are made of CSS and HTML and thus it is also easier to create one than in Joomla.
"get rid" of all that default style
Do you meant the blocks left and right and the header and footer? You can turn that off with a static page. Just try the checkboxes!
