Basically, I cannot even remember how long I run Geeklog, it must be in the early days of release 1.3 when everybody was really having fun with it.

I always followed the upgrade path close... did what was needed, did a bit more if I was scared... When Google introduced the Google Sitemap's I was scared, Geeklog was the only one of the good CMS's packages who did not supported sitemaps. No problem, after I looked a lots of other CMS packages, and even paid a few persons to translate Geeklog to a other CMS.

I found that somebody on the sideline, had introduced a Google Sitemap fix/hack for Geeklog, this was really a great advantage.

But currently it doesn't work, so I want to offer my full upgrade set from Geeklog (1.4.1, this is a complete upgrade, nothing for your to do) to Joomla for free.

Why do you think that Google sitemaps are so important for a CMS? They are of nearly zero value for the SERP's. And if you really wanted to use Geeklog with Google sitemaps, why not pay someone to make a Google Sitemap script, instead of paying for a conversion to Joomla?

I'm using an older, open source sitemap script from Softswot, and it works fine with Geeklog for years now.....

Hi Richard,

I currently run a website with Geeklog 1.4.1; tried to upgrade to 1.5.1 but failed, couldn't easily get back to the 1.4.1 version...
And currently want to switch to either joomla or drupal.
Can you give me your full upgrade set from Geeklog to Joomla for free as you offered?.

Do you really think it is easier to switch to another CMS rather than upgrading from GL 1.4.1 to 1.5.1 ? Good luck! Neutral

I have same problem, upgrade forom 1.4.1 failed because the upgrade is the most complicating thing I have ever experienced.

WIth other CMS you just uplaod the files, but here you have to upload to special folders and the info is not clear enough, like the prson who wrote the info just thougth everybody understands him.

There should be a video, my site is not functional now, for months, forum is down, admin is not working..........

I really want to move to drupal, because the install is so weird in Geeklog

Thought you were already using drupal for a few sites. Do you really like it better?

Hmm. Installation and upgrading got a lot easier starting with 1.5.0, I would think. What exactly are your problems?

Well many things not work, forum is not working, I upgraded it, even bought the script to migrate it from phpbb2 and then search is not working, and some of the plugins. I think that is it.

And also where are meta tags in the articles

Can't really help you with the forum, I'm afraid - in my experience, it's working fine. But I can't speak for the conversion from PHPBB.

What do you mean by the search not working? In the forum or in general?

They're in Geeklog 1.6.1.

That sounds familiar ... see here

Make sure your theme has a "lists" directory (copy it over from the Professional theme if you don't have it). Unfortunately, Geeklog's error handling has a bug there in 1.6.1 that prevents an informative error message.
