is there a way to automatically divide the story in intro and body safely (without doing damanging the img tags hopefully)?

What do you mean by "automatically"? How should it know where to split the story?

Good point Dirk,
Actually what I meant was a complete seperation of the two so the intro is precisely that and the body is what you see when you click to see more... without the intro...

Well the goal is that on my main page carry all the stories. And recently it has picked up traffic.
Now what i have to do is login as admin and cut copy and paste to body box.

So what should the alternate be?

And i dont want to give the user two big boxes.

Now where to cut it. May be say after first 500 characters?
that would be possible right?

FWIW, the CVS version (i.e. what will become 1.5) has separate body and intro text fields for story submissions by normal users. Need to check if that's configurable, since I'm sure it would confuse some users ...

About dividing the story: I'm afraid I do not exactly understand what you want or mean....
