I manage a site of around 100 users (its a university group) and I am interested in creating a functionality where system should send an email to all registered users if there is a new post or reply on the forum. Effectively I want all members to be autosubscribed to all forum threads.

How that can be done? Any help or ideas will be really appreciated.

The forum plugin already lets you subscribe to entire forums, i.e. you get an email for every new post there. So you would only have to find out how to enable that by default.

Having said that: Have you considered RSS feeds as an alternative?
