Hello, I was recently given Admin to a geeklog site so I could keep it updated. Unfortunately recently I have been unable to log in and cannot reset my password. The Admin that gave me the rights to edit the content on the page cannot log-in either. *note* I am not the original owner of this site, but am the only one trying to resolve this issue. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Did you try the "forgot password" link? It should send you instructions on how to set a new password.

If that doesn't work either, you need access to the site's database.

the forgot password link is not working nor is the creat new user, im guessing it has something to do with the database? I'll try to see if I can get access to it., but don't know if I will be able to.

If this happens all of a sudden, ask your hoster if he changed anything.

Where would I find that to replace it. I'm pretty new at working on website and have no previous experience.

It is in the MySQL. Edit it with phpMyAdmin -> table: gl_users. Ther eyou will find the field passwd. Just edit this.

On the other hand I`d make sure that you find the reason for all this.

How to set what up? Is it your own server? Is it webspace, is it cpanel?

It's a CP panel I believe. And it is my site now, I just never had previous experience with this stuff.

I suppose it should work this way: go into your cpanel, open phpMyAdmin, look for the table gl_users on th eleft side, find the field passwd in that table and replace the admin`s password with 5f4dcc3b5aa765d61d8327deb882cf99

After that you may log in with admin and the password: password

Ok I changed the password in the database to a new one, and it still isnt working, It always redirects to the log in page. Not sure what's going on with that. I'm putting in the correct password but it tells me I put in the wrong Login credentials. Anyone know why it's doing this?

What exactly did you do? Did you follow the above advise or did you just type in some word? The latter won't work - instead of passwords, Geeklog only stores md5 hashes (these long combinations of letters and digits posted above).

If it tells you that your login credentials are wrong, then that is usually exactly what's wrong ...

I changed it to the above hash that equals password and it still tells me the log in credentials are wrong.

Your not using Firefox are you/? Try using a different browser and clear the cache file

Hmm, that should have worked. Double-check the md5 hash and that you didn't accidentally copy any extra characters (even a blank would cause problems).

If that doesn't help, then someone will have to have a look at your database.

double checked the md5 hash was correct that I put in. I honestly don't even know who to get to look at it to find the problem =/ *bangs head on desk*

I could imagine a problem with cookies. Well, you could give a link to your site for a fist try :wink:
