autolinks in calendar?

I'm trying to link to another event from an event in the description area with [
event:EID TEXT] (EID=the event ID, TEXT=link text), but when I submit the event, the event isn't autolinked but the autotag shows up verbatim (none of the autotags listed as acceptable work here). I use geeklog-1.4.0sr5, the default calendar editor, hypertext submit mode, autolinks are not disabled (it works when I submit stories). Any ideas where to look further?
