How to generate traffic for your site

How can I put in key words to my site so that someone doing a google search could find my site?

I'm trying to generate traffic for my site by using key words in my site that would be found on a google search. However, I can't have these key words just floating around on my site. I'd rather that they not appear on the actual site itself but still there for a google search.

Any ideas?

you could use the google sitemap generator and submit the sitemap to google, search the forums and you will find it.

First of all, cheat Google and they may drop you out of their search a-la BMW.

Secondly, while the site's title (which is just another content) is a good thing to be catchy because it shows up in each search, the none actual content meta description and keywords are a thing of the past. They belong to a time when human indexes (like Yahoo's) were the main tool to search sites and they used those things for the search. Search engines like Google find the content itself, so those things not only are needless to them but also would hurt the search (if I look for something and Google would take me to your site, it would take me 2 seconds to leave when I see it's not there).

Add to that the fact that spammers abused those things till death as extra motive to ignore them.

So remember, tricking users and Google would just come back to hunt you. Just write about the things you want people to find. When you write something, try to combine keywords in a smart way in it. As you write, remember you want what you write searchable.

For example, judging by this site's popularity, I bet you in no time when people look for the phrase (even without quotes) "Google Geeklog" they'll find this very line...
