Filemgmt sub-categories
Interesting. I originally installed Filemgmt 1.3 to my fresh GL 1.4.0sr5-1 install and added a couple categories and some files. I uploaded a file to a sub-category (the only file) and clicking on the main category link displayed the file. That's what I expected.
Anyway... I saw that there is a new version (1.5.2), so I installed and upgraded according to the directions. Everything works, but now when I click the main category, the page that returns is a "No files found" error.
Could anyone shed some light on my dilemma? I have anonymous access enabled so you can view what I see...

Maybe this is normal behavior because the downloads section of this site doesn't include any sub-category files in the main category list, but I think it would be more intuitive for everything to show, then allow you to drill down if you want...
Thanks;
Jeff

I don't know anything about the plugin but I just thought I'd point out that neither style of category management is more intuitive than the other. The old method uses categories as a filter, the more specific the category, the fewer items in the list. The new method apparently works more like folders in a file system hierarchy or like old search engines with categories. You can file something under "news" or move it down the tree into "news" | "world". When you look the root of you hard drive, it doesn't show you every file on the hard drive, does it?

Point taken... but then again, if I open a folder on my hard drive that contains no files, but does contain a folder, I'm not presented with a 'File not found". I see a folder.

I had the same problem you did and my solution to this was to put a dummy file in the root of each parent catagory to allow viewing of the sub-catagories. Blaine is aware of the situation and I beleave he may be working on a solution for the next release.

I have am the same problem with multiple sub categories and I have create dummy file in each parent categories. I hope someone can come up with the fix soon, because it looks messy with all the dummy files around.
