Hi - is there a way to block anonymous contributors from posting comments?

We're getting spammed like crazy.

Thanks in advance!

that's my post above - I see now that for starters I need to install CAPTCHA
is there an easy installation explaination that someone could share about how to install CAPTCHA?

Yes. In config.php find this line

$_CONF['commentsloginrequired'] = 0;

And change 0 -> 1

Hope that helps,

Yes and it's enclosed with gl-captcha-1.0 distribution. Look for README file, it's quite straightforward.

Could someone help me with this step? I'm not very familiar with PHP and I'm not sure how this should look. The directions say:

Create a directory off the path pointed to by $_CONF['path'] in your Geeklog config.php file called captcha-images/

In my config.php file right now I have:

// +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+
// | (2) Paths |
// +---------------------------------------------------------------------------+

// Note for Windows users: It's safe to use the forward slash '/' instead of
// the backslash '' in paths. Make sure each path starts with a drive letter!

// This should point to the directory where your config.php file resides.
$_CONF['path'] ='/home/***/public_html/***blog/';

// You only need to change this if you moved or renamed the public_html
// directory. In that case, you should specify the complete path to the
// directory (i.e. without the $_CONF['path']) like this:
// $_CONF['path_html'] = '/path/to/your/public_html/';
$_CONF['path_html'] ='/home/***/public_html/***blog/';

What exactly do I add in there?
