Hey all, thanks in advance for the help.

First of all, from what I've seen Geeklog is PERFECT for what I need to do, and I'm VERY excited and intent on implementing it.

Background Info: Domain = administratorsadvantage.com
I have hosting from Godaddy, I have created an SQL database called “Varduga”

What is happening is when I try to navigate to the http://administratorsadvantage/admin/install/install.php location, it comes up to a Google page with no results for a search on “administratorsadvantage”.

Like I said, I’m sure it’s with my paths. I’ve edited and uploaded my config.php file about a hundred times now trying different combos. Before I post my important config.php lines, here’s what my site’s file structure looks like to Filezilla:

(NOTE: I previewd this and the tabs were gone. For clarification, it shows the adminadvantage.com folder, than inside that, a "Varduga" folder. Not sure why it's there. I'm guessing it's normal though. Then inside "Varduga" are the other folders.)

+Administratorsadvantage.com
-Varduga
+AdministratorsAdvantage
+Geeklog
Stats

As you can see, I renamed “public_html” to “AdministratorsAdvantage”. I also created the directory “Geeklog” and threw everything else into from the unpackaging. “stats” is a godaddy thing.

So now hopefully by knowing the sql database name, and the structure of my files, you can tell me what I’m doing wrong within the lines of Config.php below:

1) Database settings *NOTE: The DB name and username are the same… Godaddy did that.

$_DB_host = 'mysql137.secureserver.net';
$_DB_name = 'Varduga';
$_DB_user = 'Varduga';
$_DB_pass = '*********';

$_DB_table_prefix = 'gl_'; // e.g. 'gl_'

2) Paths

$_CONF['http://administratorsadvantage.com'] = '/Varduga/administratorsadvantage/';

$_CONF['http://administratorsadvantage.com'] = '/Varduga/administratorsadvantage/';

3) Site Settings

$_CONF['site_url'] = 'http://administratorsadvantage.com';

$_CONF['site_admin_url'] = $_CONF['site_url'] . '/admin';

$_CONF['site_mail'] = 'pkilchermann@*********.com';

$_CONF['site_name'] = 'Administrators Advantage';

$_CONF['site_slogan'] = 'Connecting Techs from New York to California';

----

Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for any help. I’ll be watching!!

Holy crap, I think I got it.

Please don't consider this case "closed" yet, but for now I got the installation page up. If you spot obvious errors in my coding, please let me know!

Thanks all,

Pat

Okay, as I thought, still issues.

In addition to my Config.php being incorrect, now I'm getting two errors:

1) Note: You have register_globals = Off in your php.ini. While Geeklog itself will work just fine with that setting, some of the available plugins and add-ons may not. You may want to set register_globals = On (and restart your webserver) if you plan to install any of those add-ons.

I search the entire directory for a php.ini, and found nothing.

2) It doesn't recognize the path I enter during the install.php for the config.php. It does give the hint "The complete path to this file is d:/hosting/varduga/AdministratorsAdvantage/admin/install/install.php", but doesn't recognize the path that I enter for the config.php.

Again, if anyone gets a second, I'd apprechiate it!

Godaddy has several hosting account types. Are you on a Linux CGI account? That will be the minimum needed to run Geeklog successfully. Godaddy also has Geeklog pre-installed as a part of the "Value Added" Applications, accessable from your Hosting Account Manager. You really don't need to install it yourself.

No kidding???

So do I NEED to be on a linux server? I bought a month of Windows to get started, but it was only $15 bucks, so I'm not too worried about it. Actually, I may have seen an option to "switch OSes".

Thank you Mr. Johnson!

Windows itself works fine, but Windows on GoDaddy doesn't because you need PHP, and GoDaddy only offer asp.net for Windows accounts.

I would encourage you to switch to 1and1.com though, GoDaddy doesn't give you proper access to your tables for comment locking, and you have to comment out the locking code in Geeklog, risking comment problems. Also GoDaddy strips part of the web browsers requests, denying your site from them, and breaking things like the bad behaviour plugin.

What is this ??
$_CONF['http://administratorsadvantage.com']

If this is in your config.php it is probably wrong, my guess is this should be $_CONF['path']='YOUR PATH FROM /admin/install/install.php HERE';
