i have a client who wants a site where they can create content via the geeklog interface. but doesn't want any user login or registration features. she doesn't want people to be able to comment or anything. in fact, most of the site will be static pages with one page of content that she will be adding to on a regular basis, kind of like a newsletter or something. any ideas on how to do this?

Start by reading the config.php - there are lots of options there to disable new registration, prevent access to certain portions of the site to non-registered users, etc. You can easily close down a Geeklog site so that anonymous users can only read it (or even not read it, if you want).

bye, Dirk

if i've disabled new registration, would there be a way to hide the login fields? maybe have a hidden login URL. that way the site would appear totally static, but the admin could go to a certain URL, login, and then administer the site and add new content from there.

The login form is the same block as the User Functions block. When you hide that from anonymous users (uncheck the "Anonymous R" option), it won't show up for non-logged in visitors. You can always log in via /users.php.
