When I try to run the install i get this error on an individual page:

The directory name is invalid.

If I place a simple test.html file within that same folder I can see it no problem. I've obviously screwed some path up somewhere....

Any ideas?? ....search for 'directory name invalid' on this site revealed nothing..

I don't think I've seen that error message before ...

Tell us more about your setup and the paths in your config.php.

This worked for me ... In some way the C:\Windows\Temp folder had been deleted !? I created a new Temp folder and all install programs now work ... Who or what ate the Temp folder remains a mystery.

Placing a new Temp folder as suggested work fine for me.
I am using Vista Ultimate 64bit and I to have no idea what ate my Temp folder and made it dissappear.
Everything is working fine now after the Temp folder was replaced.

Thanks for this Tip....I was worrying for four days about this problem because I uninstalled Anti virus program and wanted install another anti virus program where I faced this directory name is invalid.......Now I created the temp folder as per the tip.....and it worked fine....everything went well......thanks for the information.....
