Moving site to new server , which database is correct

I would like to know please how to know which database belongs to my site and also to the forum i have inside this site.

On my old server I have 2 geeklog and 3 phpbb forums so I wonder how to know which belongs to which site

Open each sites config.php and see its database information.

I have copied everything that is in public html and changed config file

but now it says error selecting database

i created new database on new server and it doesnt work, i changed the name of the database in config file

Could you give some more details? Is ist webspace, is it cpanel? Have you connected a user with the database Question Question Question Question Question

it is cpanel 10 i guess

i tried to upload my database from previous server that has put the files in rar but this new server i guess doesnt accept that i think it uses notepad files not rar

there is already test database there

and i created new database also the new user and it says no tables found in that database

i used phpmyadmin and i do not know how to upload database there
i can nopt use ftp right??

No FTP. Try to find something like import or upload database. Sometimes it is hidden under another button like SQL commands.

is it possible that i do not have right to make a database

and how to change the username, can i do it alone or do i have to ask for that my host

also i found how to import database but it doesnt work

it was under sql i choose zhe zip file of the database and after a while it says done but there are no databases in the server

Who is your current host? A good host should help you transfer the site, or find another host that will transfer for you.

Did you find a tutorial on how to use MySQL with cpanel? Search for it.

It requires you to create a database, create a user and to connect both. You can do this all by yourself but you have to do these 3 steps. Idea

E.g.: Look here for tutorials:

Also check the .sql file. Depending on the way you exportetd it it may contain a command like CREATE DATABASE which may not work as your webspace already got a database. So try deleting this line then.

The CREATE TABLE command is o.k.
