Upgrading GL to a higher version.
HI
I currently have GL version 1.3.11sr1 and would like to upgrade to the latest stable version. Could anyone advise me which version to upgrade to? And since I'm a newbie is there an easy way this can be done without losing my data? Is there an automatic install?
Thanks

What about you start here and you do read this little thing here and more precise this chapter here after which you are ready to download this one here and do as you read here. And last but not least if you have any problems you return here. And if that didn´t help you may ofcourse go back to that one here

If you're using the upgrade archives to go from 1.3.11sr1 to sr3, you also need the sr2 upgrade. Or use the complete 1.3.11sr3 tarball and upload everything.
Don't use an old lib-common.php with a new version. This is the file that changes the most, so make sure you always use the current version of lib-common.php.
bye, Dirk

After much consideration I have given up on the idea of upgrading to 1.3.11s3 . Am I unsafe if I'm using s1? I dont want to upgrade because right now everything is working the way I want it to. Should u recommend me to upgrade or would you think it isnt all that necessary?

Well, we do release those security releases for a reason. While sr2 and sr3 focus mostly on problems with spam, they also address some minor security issues.
I would recommend that you do the upgrade eventually. If you don't have a problem with spam right now, you could wait for the 1.4.0 release. If you don't plan to upgrade to 1.4.0, though, you should really install those two upgrades. Maybe not ASAP, but soonish.
bye, Dirk
